Overview
The course of study followed in VIANNEY VIDYA NIKETAN is in accordance with the syllabus prescribed by the Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), New Delhi, in order to prepare the students for the ICSE Examinations.
The academic systems at VIANNEY VIDYA NIKETAN follow a threefold track: Pre Primary Programme for (Nursery, LKG and UKG), The Primary Years Programme (Std 1 to Std 5) and Secondary School Programme (Std 6 to 10). All the systems are relevant to the challenges of the 21st Century and accepted for entrance to first-class Schools, Colleges and Universities throughout the world.
Medium of Instruction
Teaching at VIANNEY VIDYA NIKETAN is student-centred, project-based, and incorporates the multiple intelligences concept. While the general curriculum is followed by every student, he or she is also encouraged to develop talents and interests in personal areas of academic interest, sport, art, music and dance for which facilities are available. While English is the medium of instruction, Hindi language is also given emphasis at all levels. Marathi is also taught from Primary level.
Academic Structure
Pre-Primary
Nursery
Quality education in the early years of preschool sets a firm foundation in the overall development of a child. At VIANNEY VIDYA NIKETAN, the Nursery curriculum provides a right array of activities to help children move towards achieving their early learning goals. In Nursery, children are engaged in school readiness activities such as language development, learning strokes, drawing, coloring, identifying, number recognition, counting and problem solving in a fun filled but purposeful manner.
Kindergarten (Lower K.G & Upper K.G)
At VIANNEY VIDYA NIKETAN, the Kindergarten (K.G.) curriculum ensures smooth transition from Nursery to formal schooling with meaningful and progressive learning experiences. In addition to age-appropriate activities in Kindergarten, which prepare a child for success in formal schooling, various other activities are conducted in the areas of language, phonetics, numbers, environmental science and art in a planned manner throughout the programme. Through these activities, children learn the alphabet and letter sounds, numbers and simple maths and master early writing skills. Each child’s development is measured Quadruple in a year through well designed assessment techniques.
Primary School
Std I to Std V
At this level, we all strive to create opportunities for children full of wonder and exploration. We provide a program that supports student growth socially, emotionally, physically, and academically.
The children are encouraged to become aware of their world, to learn and develop basic concepts of English, Mathematics, Hindi and , Environmental Science, Computer for Standards I and II and English, Mathematics, Hindi and Marathi, Science, Social Studies and Computer for standards III to V. The curriculum helps the students to recognize the interaction and interdependence between different subjects.
Art, Craft, Music, Dance, Physical Education and Yoga are part of the curriculum and help to develop creativity, logical thinking, aesthetic sense, positive attitude and physical fitness.
Secondary School
STD VI to X
At this level, balanced program is provided to students in Std VI to X, which focuses on the necessary skill development, knowledge and understanding to be successful in the ICSE Examinations.
In these years the focus is on discovery, innovation, action and reflection. Teachers use student-centered strategies that nurture student’s critical and analytical thinking skills.
Subjects are taught English, Hindi, Marathi, History/Civics, Geography, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and EVS. The curriculum also includes General Knowledge, Value Education, Art, Craft, Physical Education and Music.
